ABOUT
Evan Rensch is an emerging Canadian visual artist. He holds a BA degree from Mount Allison University as well as an MFA from NSCAD University. He is the recipient of visual arts grants from Arts NB, Arts NS, and Yukon Department of Tourism & Culture. He has exhibited his work in Canada and the USA. Currently, he splits his time between Vancouver and Dawson City, Yukon.
Rensch’s completed photographic projects are all rooted in documentary practice, and draw upon the histories of portraiture and landscape photography. Guiding all of his work is an insistence on the themes of place, memory, and labour in the formation of human identity. Frequently, he is drawn towards social-based subject matter for his work, photographing communities that are ignored by, or seek to escape from, contemporary urban society.
